We were excited to attend church in Costa Rica. We drove 45 minutes to Las Canas where the church was, but since there are no street signs or addresses, we had no idea where it was. I asked multiple people on the side of the road where the "Mormon" church was, and they all pointed me to the Catholic church in the center of the city. Finally, after a few prayers, we found it! Apparently their new chapel is under construction so they are meeting in a school. We walked in late and the Spirit was so powerfully familiar that it brought tears to my eyes. After 4 days of trying to speak to people in a language we don't know or understand, the familiar language of the Holy Ghost was a relief! It was testimony meeting and I loved hearing the testimonies born, even though I only caught a few words here and there. After Sacrament Meeting, the Primary President immediately introduced herself and invited us to Primary. We didn't know exactly what she was saying, but it's amazing how much you can communicate with body language. A super sweet, friendly girl invited Jade to go with her and they were little buddies. I felt so grateful for her outgoing personality to help us feel welcome! I must do better at that when we get home. One person can make all the difference!
We all went to a classroom for Primary and pretty much colored pictures for an hour and half!! No piano, no songs, no lesson:(. I was so proud of the kids though - they tried to talk to the kids in Spanish and are learning to say the basics!
Everyone is so kind. We desperately needed some internet to do a couple things and hoped the church would have some. It didn't, since it was at a school, so a bishopric member took us to the old church/storage building and let us use the WiFi there. He just waited for us to do our thing. I felt so grateful for the many people who have taken the time to help us in so many ways!
