Santa Teresa

When Adam and I came here a few years ago, we stayed in Santa Teresa.  It was a beautiful beach with only a few beach bums.  The dirt road running parallel to the beach had a few shops and restaurants, but seemed mostly untouched and that's what we loved about it.  We even thought, "Should we buy some property and open up a little restaurant here?"  Apparently everyone else had that same thought because wow it has changed!  There were a bazillion people crowding that little dirt road that should really only fit one car, but instead that space is shared with 4 wheelers and motorcycles zooming by, surfers on bikes, crowds of girls in bikinis walking by, tour buses, Pepsi trucks dropping off loads, etc.  I could appreciate the job of a city planner.  No one seemed to take into consideration that putting up more shops would mean more cars and no place to park.

But the beach...oh, the beach.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  Perfect sand, perfect break, warm water.  The break is consistent and goes along the whole length of the long beach, so surfers were spread out, leaving us beginners our own space.  The kids had a great time on the long board and Adam caught a wave on his short board.

Of course we stayed till past sun down to squeeze in every second of this perfect day.  The ride home, though only 5 miles, took about an hour and really should have been part of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.  Craziest roads ever.  We're glad we made it:).

Lincoln made this cute mermaid tale for Eliza all by himself.  So cute!

Adam sculpted his face into the sand and was thrilled when he found these shells that looked just like teeth!  We laughed our heads off as they added the perfect finishing touch to his creation!
