Moving Again

After a month of living in paradise, we had to leave our beloved Playa Junquillal and begin a new adventure down the coast at the bottom of the Nicoya Peninsula.  I felt excited to leave the giant grasshoppers, the raccoons and skunks who would visit our kitchen if we didn't clean up every crumb, and the birds who found a corner of the kitchen counter to poop on.  GROSS!!

But I also felt so sad to leave our favorite boogie boarding beach, our Playa Negra surf spot, our amazing shell beach, the snorkeling spots, the familiar parking lot guards, the air conditioning, the huge outdoor kitchen that could hold guests, our friends, our weekly cleaning and laundry lady, and the great ward.  What if the next place isn't so great???

We spent the last couple of days doing our favorite things.

Goodbye Playa Junquillal, we love you!  We'll miss you!

One thing I love about our location is that it's not super touristy.  While we are out surfing, the locals are fishing off the shore and bringing in huge fish and lobsters!  Adam bought this lobster off a guy on a bicycle and was so excited to cook it.  Although he was disappointed with how it turned out (and the butter to dip it in was gross - delicacies we take for granted in the US) , it was a fun experience.

What do we do when we don't have tupperwares but need to pack food everyday?  Use old peanut butter jars!  We have a bunch of them that hold our fruits and vegetables and work like a champ!

Casa Nirvana, we love you!  We will miss you!

Playa Negra, we love you!  We'll miss you!

On our long drive to the next place, we stopped for lunch at a park.  The cities are so cute and are set up with a church and park in the center.

This is a photo from outside looking in to our shipping container.  It was like living in a fishbowl!  The room was super well set up with bunkbeds and a trundle, so all 4 kids fit in there.  Such a fun place.

More coconuts:)

The gatekeeper.  Adam is the driver so I am in charge of always opening and closing and locking the gate.  This place is well-concealed and people nearby didn't even know it existed!

  1. Got to be tough to leave paradise! We wish we had skunks and iguanas in our kitchen. The kids think lizards are the coolest! Hope your new place is just as cool!
